We are seeking an experiencedSafety, Health & Environment (SHE/HSE) Specialist with a strong background inports, harbors, marine terminals, dredging, coastal, and maritime infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will support the Resident Engineer/Construction Manager in ensuring compliance with project HSE requirements, maritime safety standards, environmental regulations, and client specifications. The role will focus on fostering a strong safety culture while ensuring safe execution of marine and port construction activities.
- Assist and support the Resident Engineer/Construction Manager in implementing project-specific HSE requirements and objectives.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and management plans.
- Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and recommend mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local and international safety regulations, standards, and client requirements.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, EIA requirements, and regulatory obligations for marine and coastal projects.
- Monitor environmental impacts associated with dredging, reclamation, marine construction, and port operations.
- Implement environmental protection measures related to water quality, sediment control, waste management, spill prevention, dust suppression, and noise control.
- Monitor safe execution of marine construction activities, including quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, marine piling, berthing facilities, and offshore works.
- Ensure marine vessels, barges, workboats, and floating equipment comply with project HSE requirements.
- Review marine traffic management plans and interface management procedures.
- Verify implementation of lifesaving equipment, emergency rescue systems, and work-over-water safety measures.
- Conduct routine HSE inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across construction sites, marine facilities, and contractor operations.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices by all personnel.
- Manage contractor and subcontractor HSE performance and compliance.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10-18Â years of HSE experience, including significant exposure toports, marine, harbor, coastal, dredging, or maritime infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of marine construction activities, maritime safety requirements, and environmental management practices.
Preferred Certifications:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)
- IOSH Managing Safely
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor
- ISO 14001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
- First Aid, Fire Safety, and Emergency Response Training
- Marine Safety or Offshore Safety Certifications preferred
