SUMMARY

 

The Ski & Ride School Adult’s Manager is responsible and accountable for developing, implementing, and coordinating operational and service assurance programs to provide first class service for our guests.  This includes meeting or exceeding our established standards for employee satisfaction, guest satisfaction, sales, and financial performance for the Ski & Ride School Operations.

 

All these elements contribute in a significant way to the overall quality of the guest and employee experience at Sierra at Tahoe. This individual will be responsible for managing program issues relating to instructor pay, guest complaints, and system efficiency.  He or she will manage growth and expense of programs and will oversee daily instructor line-up.  This position will work with the Director and Administrative Assistants to ensure all payroll, incident reports, staffing levels, training requirements, inventory levels, disciplinary/hiring/separating procedures and all other administrative functions are managed efficiently and timely. This leadership position is integral to the success of the Ski & Ride School.

Duties and Responsibilities are (but not limited to):

  1. Manage Ski & Ride School budgets to revenue targets. Financial forecasting, daily expense management and year-end contribution results are top priorities.
  2. Innovate ideas and recognize trends in revenue growth, product development, expense management, safety, and workers compensation.
  3. Coach and counsel, motivate and develop supervisors, coordinators, pros and support staff.
  4. Complete staff performance appraisals.
  5. Oversee maintenance of base areas, locker rooms and on-hill facilities.
  6. Implement and holds staff accountable to both Ski & Ride School & company policies and procedures.
  7. Ensure supervisory staff is effectively controlling instructor and support team staffing levels to ensure that the highest quality of guest service is provided.
  8. Resolve guest complaints by utilizingMake the Guest Right guidelines accommodating special requests when appropriate.
  9. Communicate and work with other departments to create an environment of support and trust that will benefit staff and guests.
  10. A strong focus on delivering the resorts safety initiatives for pros and guests.
  11. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance of day-to-day supplies and program tools for inside and outside set up.
  12. Responds to emergency calls for assistance when available, and accepts standby duty as needed.
  13. Adheres to and enforces stated safety policies and procedures.
  14. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  15. Must become familiar with resort’s policies and guest service expectations.
  16. Communicates problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine matters and emergencies.
  17. Continually remains vigilant to the needs of both the equipment and the guests and reacts to those needs in the safest manner while maintaining quality service.
  18. Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  19. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
  20. Flexible working hours.


RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
5. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
6. Drive in accordance with the law and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort policies.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years minimum experience as an instructor – required.
  • Current level 2 or 3 PSIA-AASI certified instructor – preferred.
  • Previous Ski & Ride School management experience – required.
  • Detailed oriented and highly organized – required.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal – required.
  • Ability to ski or ride a variety of terrain and conditions with the ability to move around the mountain and demonstrate appropriate skills/movements to instructors and guests – required.
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills – required.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting financial reports – required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

5 years’ minimum experience as an instructor.High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.).

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current and valid level 2 or 3 PSIA-AASI certification.Resort certification on any necessary equipment.
