Job Description:
Duties
- The Admission Evaluator will focus on, but not be limited to, the review and processing of applications for admission to client and its academic programs.
- The Admission Evaluator will work with the Senior Director of Operations, Office of Admission, to review applications, read essay statements, and rate/grade them accordingly as instructed/advised by the Admission Operations leadership team.
- Will work closely with Assistant Directors of Assessment and Evaluation, and other colleagues to provide consistent, accurate review of applications.
- May counsel and/or communicate with prospective students regarding appropriateness of academic program, entry options and curriculum, and respond to inquiries.
- Ensure accurate and detailed evaluation of applications for admission, including checking thoroughly for completeness of file; completion of all prerequisite courses; exam scores; and grade point average calculations.
- For graduate programs, based upon prescribed admission eligibility criteria, consult with academic departments to make admission decisions.
- Routinely exercise discretion and independent judgment in determining admission decisions.
- Establish and maintain contact with the admissions review team through the entire application review process.
- May communicate with applicants, in written form, regarding their application status, completion of prerequisites, and admission or denial of entry to the program.
- Provide detailed, step-by-step training for colleagues in application processing protocol.
- Regularly evaluate best practices for application review processes; communicate any changes or updates to the admission team.
- May update status in CAS and Student Information systems when applicable for designated cohorts.
- Collaborate with Admission Operations/Evaluation team to analyze their approach to the review of applications.
- Upon the release of admission decisions, may assist colleagues as they prepare to work with admitted, waitlisted, and denied applicants.
- For programs that allow in progress or planned prerequisites or degrees: may work with Admission Counselor and/or Ops/Evaluation Team to confirm receipt of all official transcripts and test score reports from admitted students.
- May work closely with admission colleagues to help them better understand this process.
- May complete this process for several cohorts throughout the calendar year.
- Work closely with the Senior Director of Operations, Office of Admission, to ensure the accuracy of recruitment tools (i.e. prerequisite course articulation tool, email communication, etc).
- Participate in occasional review planning and processing meetings.
- May perform other duties as requested by the Senior Director of Operations, Office of Admission.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Moderate experience with spreadsheet software such as Excel.
- Excellent communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate effectively with Evaluators, prospective students, family members, and other professional colleagues.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to organize and effectively communicate thoughts through the written word.
- Ability to read English and carry out written instructions.
- Ability to work and concentrate in a busy, multi-tasked, multi-faceted environment.
- A courteous and professional manner is required.
- Diplomacy in dealing with conflict.
- Excellent attention to detail as they relate to the successful daily operation of the Office of Admission.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and exercise professional judgment.
- Ability to analyze other statistical data pertaining to enrollment trends and projections.
- Ability to interact with University faculty and staff, medical center staff, prospective students and their families, and other University admission personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to establish rapport quickly and easily with all audiences.
- Ability and skill to work independently, and as part of a designated team.
- Working knowledge of student information system databases (i.e. Power Campus, WebAdmit, WESalesforce, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, Workday, etc).
- Baccalaureate required.
- Demonstrated experience in student recruitment and admission required, or substantially similar work experience.
