JOB SUMMARYÂ
Seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach a graduate course in contemporary young adult realistic fiction. The course operates as a genre study, as a study of ideologies of identity, and as a study of narratological devices and strategies that texture young adult realism.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSÂ
The instructor meets once a week in graduate seminars with second or third year graduate students across programs in Children’s Literature (MA, MFA, MAMFA, MAMS). The faculty member uses the core syllabus provided for assigned literary and critical readings, writing assignments, and presentation assignments. The instructor draws on a repertoire of pedagogies, including some lecturing, discussion seminars, and extensive development of critical writing. The instructor supports students in reaching the program and course learning outcomes assigned to this core course in the graduate programs.Â
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
MA, MFA, or PhD in children’s, young adult, or general literature
Prior teaching experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSÂ Â
MA, MFA, or Phd with focus on literature for young people.
Particular depth of knowledge of historical and contemporary young adult literature. Prior study of narratology. Previous teaching experience.

Compensation: $6,395
This role is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by the union SEIU, Local 509.

Compensation for adjunct faculty is established at a set rate per course and does not vary based on experience, education, or other factors.
