Lead Engineer — Cloud & Hosting Engineering

We are looking for a Cloud & Hosting Lead to act as a domain owner for the client's server infrastructure, virtualisation platforms, cloud environments, and hosting operations, serving as the primary on-site technical interface to the client, owning the relationship at the infrastructure architecture level, and leading offshore delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own the full server and cloud hosting estate: on-premises VMware ESXi and AWS IaaS/PaaS, and AVD/VDI environments
• Act as the on-the-ground infrastructure authority at client HQ, attending architecture and governance forums
• Lead transition-in activities, including infrastructure discovery, dependency mapping, runbook creation, and tooling integration
• Govern offshore cloud engineers across patching, monitoring, backup, capacity management, and incident resolution
• Drive cloud optimisation covering cost management, performance, right-sizing, and virtual desktop capacity
• Ensure NIS2 and data residency requirements are embedded in cloud operations
• Serve as on-call escalation owner for P1 infrastructure incidents

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure/cloud engineering
• Expertise in AWS hybrid cloud, including IaaS, PaaS, cloud policies, and cost management
• Proficiency in VMware ESXi and AVD/Windows 365/VDI administration
• Background in backup and DR tooling such as Veeam and AWS DRS or equivalent
• Knowledge of ITIL service management
• Fluent English required; strong German preferred; Czech is an asset
