Accounting Supervisor - Decatur, IL
GBS Finance Services
Exempt Level Position

Position Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing accounting activities, supporting financial reporting and analysis for the company’s incentive compensation, US benefits, and stock transactions.  This position serves as an accounting point of contact for US and Canada benefits and partners with management across finance and other corporate functions such as legal, treasury, and human resources. The role includes supervisory responsibilities, including reviewing work, providing direction, supporting team development, and ensuring timely completion of accounting deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Complete and/or review monthly accounting close activities in accordance with US GAAP
  • Perform financial analysis and provide meaningful explanations of results, trends, and variances
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Perform monthly and quarterly analysis, reporting, and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Support annual review and revision of Key Financial Controls, SOX requirements, and process flows
  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of accounting processes and internal controls
  • Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to provide insight into financial results, support process changes, and partner to implement system upgrades
  • Lead or assist with special projects within Corporate Accounting and cross-functional finance teams
  • Review team members activities, provide guidance, training, and support
  • Support audit requests and ensure compliance with governance, risk, and internal control requirements
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and US GAAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, process improvement, and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Experience in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Power BI and other large ERP systems, preferred
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Experience
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Prior supervisory, lead, or senior-level accounting experience preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment and follow office safety regulations

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
