We're on the hunt for a hands-on Accounting & Tax Manager to join our Brazilian team, helping bolster EPAM's local controllership operations and steering our Brazilian legal entities through a stretch of considerable accounting, tax, and procedural change. Reporting directly to the Country Controller, this individual will function as the primary technical resource for accounting and tax issues across Brazil, overseeing statutory accounting, tax responsibilities, audit work, outside vendor coordination, and tax reform activities, all while remaining engaged in hands-on accounting, reconciliation, and statutory/tax execution whenever required.
Responsibilities
- Preserve a well-functioning accounting system together with matching internal controls that comply with BR GAAP/CPC, US-GAAP, and EPAM's internal corporate standards
- Supervise monthly close deliverables, trial balances, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations, collaborating with the Country Controller to clear up issues without delay
- Directly draft, evaluate, and question detailed accounting and tax assessments as circumstances require, since this role calls for genuine technical engagement beyond vendor supervision alone
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements, handle statutory and tax audit processes, and maintain controls consistent with SOX requirements
- Enable smooth coordination of deliverables between Global SSC teams, external local accounting/tax vendors, auditors, and tax advisors
- Drive the review and challenge of Brazil's tax compliance responsibilities for a service-oriented business, spanning IRPJ, CSLL, ISS, PIS, COFINS, and associated secondary obligations
- Play a part in advancing readiness for Brazil's tax reform, tackling CBS/IBS-related effects, invoice structuring, tax code assignment, vendor confirmation, input credit management, and audit trail documentation
- Oversee and uphold quality standards for outsourced accounting and tax compliance activities, while maintaining readiness to perform or rebuild these functions in-house should the need arise later
- Help connect statutory figures to US-GAAP, contribute to local management reporting, respond to FP&A inquiries, reconcile payroll-related accounts, and perform other controllership assessments
- Participate in integration efforts, entity simplification projects, and continuous process enhancement initiatives throughout Brazil
Requirements
- A degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a comparable field, with Accounting/Ciências Contábeis being the preferred choice
- Holding an active CRC registration is either required or strongly anticipated
- Approximately five-plus years of applicable background in accounting, controllership, and/or tax work within Brazil, preferably obtained through a multinational organization, Big 4 firm, outsourcing partner, or shared-services setting
- Strong grasp of BR GAAP/CPC principles paired with decent exposure to IFRS and/or US-GAAP reporting standards
- Thorough knowledge of Brazilian tax law, especially concerning IRPJ, CSLL, ISS, PIS, and COFINS within service-industry contexts
- Direct experience with Brazil's digital tax and statutory obligations, covering ECD, ECF, DCTFWeb, EFD-Contribuições, EFD-Reinf, NFS-e, eSocial-linked financial inputs, CND, and e-CAC tracking
- Prior exposure to reviewing tax calculations, statutory filings, reconciliations, and audit materials produced by third-party vendors
- Practical experience with ERP platforms, SAP being the preferred system, with added value placed on JDE, Brazilian localization tools, NFS-e integrations, or tax engine familiarity
- Advanced Excel proficiency, solid reconciliation know-how, and the capacity to break down complicated accounting/tax matters in an understandable way
- Professional English communication skills for ongoing collaboration with global stakeholders, with Spanish viewed as a bonus
Nice to have
- Completion of a postgraduate program, MBA, or focused certification in Tax, Controllership, IFRS, or Finance
- Earlier hands-on work related to Brazil's tax reform preparations, including CBS/IBS deployment or process overhaul
- Professional background within technology, consulting, or professional-services firms
- Direct experience overseeing statutory and tax audits viewed through a legal-entity lens
- Working familiarity with SOX compliance frameworks and environments tied to US-listed multinational corporations
