We are seeking astrong, technically skilled Accountant to join an established organization providing workforce and career services in the Austin area.

We need an Accountant with asolid technical accounting foundation who can analyze financial activity, perform reconciliations, support audits, understand GAAP and financial controls, and identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes.

For the right individual, this position offers the opportunity to become a key accounting resource within the organization and potentiallygrow into a more senior-level accounting role.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and review accounting entries supporting ongoing business and program operations

  • Perform monthlyaccount reconciliations and investigate discrepancies

  • Review financial activity for accuracy, completeness, and compliance

  • ApplyGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP, to day-to-day accounting activities

  • Help ensure financial transactions comply with applicable federal, state, local, contractual, and organizational requirements

  • Support the development and maintenance of procedures governing the receipt and disbursement of funds

  • Assist withinternal and external audits, including schedules, supporting documentation, and financial information

  • Evaluate existing accounting and financial processes and recommend improvements

  • Help strengtheninternal controls, accounting procedures, and financial accuracy

  • Interpret and apply financial policies, regulations, grant requirements, and contractual requirements

  • Support budget controls and fiscal procedures

  • Identify accounting issues and proactively recommend solutions

  • Document and improve accounting procedures

  • Partner with management and other departments on financial and accounting matters

  • Support additional accounting and finance initiatives as business needs evolve

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework inAccounting, Finance, or a related discipline

  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience preferred

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding ofGAAP

  • Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and accounting controls

  • Experience supporting financial audits

  • Understanding of budgeting, fiscal controls, financial procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to interpret financial policies and apply accounting principles to operational situations

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Ability to identify weaknesses in existing processes and recommend practical improvements

  • Strong spreadsheet and general accounting technology skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Highly Preferred Experience

Candidates with accounting experience in any of the following environments are particularly encouraged to apply:

Government-Funded Programs • Grant Accounting • Workforce Development • Government Contracting • Nonprofit/Publicly Funded Programs • Contract-Based Financial Operations • Regulated Environments

Experience working withWorkforce Solutions contracts, grants, financial compliance requirements, or the Financial Manual for Grants and Contracts, FMGC, is especially relevant.

Experience withMIP accounting software is a plus, and bilingual English/Spanish capabilities are also preferred.
