Accountant

 

Beckwood, headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of custom hydraulic presses and automation equipment. We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this newly created role serves as a key accounting and operational partner to Beckwood’s Service and Operations teams. The position combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with cross-functional support for service billing, contract administration, financial reporting, and process improvement.

The Accountant will help ensure that service activity is accurately and efficiently translated into invoicing and financial results while providing the business with the accounting support needed to serve customers more effectively. This role is well-suited for an experienced accountant who enjoys working across departments, improving processes, solving operational issues, and understanding the business behind the numbers.

What You’ll Be Doing: 

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Own accounting activities related to the Service business unit, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company accounting policies.
  • Prepare and issue accurate and timely service invoices based on completed work orders, service contracts, field service documentation, parts shipments, and other supporting information.
  • Monitor open and unbilled service activity and work with Customer Service team members to resolve issues and support timely conversion to revenue.
  • Perform month-end closing activities related to the Service business unit, including account reconciliations, accruals, revenue-related activities, and other assigned close responsibilities.
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly financial results for the Service business unit.
  • Analyze actual results against budget and prior periods, identify significant variances, and communicate findings to Accounting and business unit leadership.

Service & Customer Support

  • Serve as a primary accounting resource for the Customer Service teams, helping resolve customer billing, invoicing, contract, and account-related questions.
  • Support the financial and administrative setup of service contracts, renewals, and other recurring service arrangements.
  • Help ensure that customer-facing teams have accurate financial and billing information needed to respond effectively to customer inquiries.

Process Improvement & Business Partnership

  • Develop, document, and maintain standardized work instructions for service accounting, billing, and related administrative processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve invoicing speed, transaction accuracy, workflow efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Partner with Accounting, Service, Operations, and other departments to streamline processes and reduce manual or duplicate work.
  • Assist with ERP and process improvements affecting service accounting and customer-related transactions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Service operations and use financial information to help business leaders identify trends, issues, and opportunities.
  • Support additional accounting and operational responsibilities as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

   Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting 
  • 4+ years of professional accounting experience 
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Proactive problem-solving 
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Continuous improvement orientation
  • Experience using an ERP system within a manufacturing environment preferred

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a professional office environment but includes occasional time in the manufacturing facility to support projects and collaborate with production teams. While in the plant, employees may be exposed to typical manufacturing conditions such as machinery operation and moderate noise levels.

This role primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while occasionally moving about to access office equipment and files.
