Accountant

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a detail-orientedAccountant to support the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit preparation. This position will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with established accounting policies and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries as part of themonth-end close process.
• Performgeneral ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Conductvariance analysis and assist with identifying and explaining significant fluctuations.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly and year-endfinancial statements and supporting schedules.
• Supportaudit preparation, including gathering documentation and responding to audit requests.
• Maintain and support effectiveinternal controls and accounting procedures.
• Review general ledger activity for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
• Assist with account analysis and other month-end and year-end close responsibilities.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance and other departments to resolve accounting-related questions and discrepancies.
• Assist with special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Professional experience in general accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing or supporting financial statement preparation.
• Experience with audit preparation and internal controls.
• Strong analytical skills with experience performing variance analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Previous accounting experience within a nonprofit organization is a plus.
