SUMMARY: The OPS Manager of Maintenance Control provides comprehensive strategic leadership, management, and oversight to the Maintenance Control Department. The fundamental purpose of this role is to deliver expert operational guidance, policy enforcement, and technical direction necessary to guarantee the continuous airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and maximum safe operation of all assigned ABX aircraft.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Fleet Dispatch Reliability: Orchestrate real-time technical tracking and rapid intervention strategies to ensure a high level of aircraft dispatch reliability and minimize operational downtime.
• Optimize cost-effectiveness in maintenance processes
• Ensure the integrity of ABX systems and operational procedures
• Develop and maintain sound personnel relations and employee safety awareness.
• Support Executive Operations: Execute strategic initiatives and fulfill additional operational duties as assigned by the Senior Manager to support the broader goals of the maintenance organization.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role manages and oversees maintenance control operations to ensure efficiency, absolute safety, and robust tactical leadership during operational shifts.
• Performance Evaluation: Monitors, reviews, and assesses the shift performance of Maintenance Control Managers and Controllers for technical quality, procedural compliance, and operational reliability.
• Maintenance Coordination: Coordinates, schedules, and aligns complex or time-critical required maintenance events in direct cooperation with Managers and Controllers to maximize fleet utilization.
• Real-Time Asset Tracking: Responsible for the direct oversight of maintenance control Managers, ensuring that technical status boards and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) boards are maintained with precise, current data at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Aviation Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive, hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance operations.
• Leadership Scope: Minimum of five (5) years of formal supervisory or managerial experience specifically within an aircraft maintenance control or line maintenance environment.
• Licensure: Must hold a valid, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
• Technical Proficiencies: Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Word), SABRE, and the corporate Maintenance Turnover Program.
• Operational Capabilities: Proven ability to work highly flexible work hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays) and operate independently. Must demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal communication, and decisive problem-solving skills under high-stress conditions.
PREFERRED SKILLS & Qualifications
• Fleet Type Certification: Boeing 767 and/or Airbus A330 General Familiarization (Gen Fam) training certificates.
• Line Maintenance: Five (5) or more years of dedicated line maintenance environment experience.
• System Knowledge: Deep, thorough working understanding of unique ABX maintenance processes, operational procedures, and safety policies.
• Formal Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a closely related academic discipline.
• CMMS Competency: Hands-on experience navigating Maintenix or a comparable commercial aviation Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
