Position Summary

ASM is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator with a strong background incommercial HVAC and mechanical contracting. This is a key role for an experienced estimator who can independently manage the estimating process and deliver accurate, competitive, and profitable bids with minimal training.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, mechanical construction, estimating, takeoffs, project costs, and margins, along with established relationships with vendors and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurateestimates, quotes, and bid proposals for commercial HVAC and mechanical projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents and perform detailedequipment and piping takeoffs.
• Conductsite visits, project walk-downs, and bid walks to evaluate scope and field conditions.
• Obtain and analyze pricing fromvendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs and establish appropriateproject margins.
• Maintain and leverage strong relationships withvendors, subcontractors, and clients.
• Manage multiple bids and ensure proposals areaccurate, competitive, and submitted on time.
• Follow up on bids and work with management and clients throughout the bidding process.
• Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and opportunities for value engineering or cost savings.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical/HVAC estimating experience preferred.
• Must have experience with acommercial mechanical or HVAC contractor.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems, includingRTUs, chillers, boilers, piping, pumps, controls, and related equipment.
• Proven experience performingaccurate mechanical drawing takeoffs for equipment and piping.
• Strong understanding oflabor, material, subcontractor pricing, project costs, and margins.
• Established relationships withmechanical vendors and subcontractors preferred.
• Ability to independently manage estimates from initial bid review through submission and follow-up.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mechanical estimating/takeoff software.
• Field HVAC/mechanical experience is a strong plus.
