Role Overview:
The Head of Financial Lines, Professional Liability, Crisis Management, and Cyber will lead the underwriting, product development, and business strategy for these specialty lines, ensuring profitable growth and operational excellence. This executive role combines strong market acumen with deep technical expertise, and will drive innovation, build broker/partner relationships, and champion the company’s reputation in specialty insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop, lead, and execute the strategy for Financial Lines, Professional Liability, Crisis Management, and Cyber portfolios.
- Drive expansion and innovation of products/services to respond to evolving market needs (e.g., emerging cyber threats, crisis response initiatives).
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align with broader business goals and contribute to overall company strategy.
- Underwriting Management:
- Set underwriting standards, guidelines, appetite, and manage overall portfolio performance—balancing growth with loss ratio targets.
- Oversee the underwriting team, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Approve large/complex submissions and provide technical oversight on high-profile accounts.
- Product Development:
- Lead the creation and enhancement of products within Financial Lines, Professional Liability, Crisis Management, and Cyber.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to inform product strategy.
- Broker & Client Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and key market stakeholders.
- Represent the company at industry events, panel discussions, and client meetings as a subject matter expert.
- Crisis Management:
- Design and implement market-leading solutions for crisis response, including cyber incidents, reputational risk, and business continuity.
- Guide clients and partners through complex claims scenarios and facilitate post-event support.
- Financial Performance:
- Set and monitor targets for premium growth, profitability, and operational efficiency across managed portfolios.
- Report regularly on portfolio performance, market developments, and strategic priorities to senior management.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of underwriters and specialists.
- Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience (minimum 8–10 years) in Financial Lines, Professional Liability, Crisis Management, and Cyber insurance, including senior-level underwriting or management roles.
- Proven track record developing and leading profitable specialty insurance portfolios.
- Deep technical knowledge of policy wordings, coverage structures, claims handling, and emerging risks.
- Strong relationships with brokers, clients, and industry associations.
- Demonstrated strategic planning, leadership, and people management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees, industry qualifications (e.g., ACII, CPCU), or cyber risk certifications preferred.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Disclosure:The salary range for this position is between $350k - $435k
