Compensation: $90,000-$105,000 base salary + uncapped commission
On-Target Earnings: Approximately $125,000 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Our client, a growing specialty healthcare organization in Atlanta, is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Physician Liaison / Healthcare Business Development professional to expand its physician referral network and support continued growth.

This is a sales-driven, relationship-building role focused on developing partnerships with primary care physicians, internal medicine practices, specialty providers, hospital-based physicians, and other healthcare professionals throughout the Atlanta market.

The primary objective is to increase awareness of the organization's specialty medical services, establish new referral relationships, and help ensure patients have access to appropriate specialty care.

This newly created position offers the opportunity to build a physician outreach strategy, develop a territory, and establish long-term relationships with healthcare providers throughout the community.

The ideal candidate has previous experience calling on physicians or medical practices and understands how to develop relationships that translate into measurable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Physician Outreach & Business Development

  • Identify, prospect, and develop new physician referral relationships throughout the Atlanta market.
  • Conduct regular in-person visits to primary care practices, internal medicine offices, specialty providers, hospitals, and other healthcare organizations.
  • Educate physicians and their teams on the organization's specialty medical services, provider expertise, patient access, and referral processes.
  • Develop and execute targeted outreach strategies to increase referrals from new and existing provider relationships.
  • Establish relationships with hospital-based physicians, care coordinators, discharge planners, and other professionals involved in patient referrals.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen referral pathways between hospital-based care and outpatient specialty services.
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of prospective referral partners.

Territory & Relationship Management

  • Develop and manage an organized territory plan focused on high-potential physician practices and healthcare organizations.
  • Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with existing and prospective referral sources.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships with underutilized or inactive referral partners.
  • Track physician outreach activity, referral trends, relationship development, and growth opportunities using the organization's CRM.
  • Analyze territory performance and adjust outreach strategies to support referral growth.
  • Serve as a responsive point of contact for referring practices, helping address questions or concerns in collaboration with internal teams.

Community & Healthcare Partnerships

  • Develop relationships with relevant community organizations, senior living communities, support groups, and other healthcare partners.
  • Represent the organization at healthcare networking events, professional meetings, educational events, and community outreach opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to increase awareness of available specialty medical services throughout the community.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership, scheduling, marketing, and operations teams to support a positive referral experience.

Sales Performance & Reporting

  • Consistently achieve established outreach, referral-development, and business growth goals.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records documenting outreach activity, relationship status, follow-up, and referral opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership regarding territory activity, referral trends, and market opportunities.
  • Monitor local healthcare market activity and identify opportunities for additional growth.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience calling on physicians or medical practices is required.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical sales, medical device sales, physician relations, healthcare business development, specialty practice development, or similar healthcare sales roles strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing professional relationships with physicians, practice managers, and healthcare decision-makers.
  • Proven ability to prospect, develop new business, manage a territory, and consistently follow up with prospective accounts.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and consultative sales skills.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems to track sales activity, relationships, and performance.
  • Existing physician relationships within the Atlanta healthcare market are a plus but are not required.
  • Experience within neurology, neuroscience, or specialty medical services is a plus but is not required.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the Atlanta market.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

This is an opportunity to help establish a new business development function within a growing specialty healthcare organization.

Rather than inheriting an established territory and outreach strategy, this individual will have the opportunity to develop new relationships, identify growth opportunities, and help shape the organization's physician referral network.

The position offers a competitive base salary, uncapped commission potential, and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on both organizational growth and patient access to specialty care.

This is a field-based position requiring regular travel throughout the Atlanta market, with in-office responsibilities for meetings, planning, and collaboration.
