The Level I Automation Maintenance Technician supports the safe, reliable operation of the DC’s automation systems. This entry-level role performs basic preventive maintenance, daily equipment checks, and assists senior technicians with troubleshooting conveyor, sortation, robotics, and material-handling equipment. This partner demonstrates strong safety awareness, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to maintaining uptime.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Operations Support

• Perform routine inspections, PMs, and cleanings on conveyors, sorters, carton flow, pick modules, robotics, AGVs/AMRs, and AutoStore components.
• Complete daily walk-throughs to identify visible wear, damage, or unsafe conditions.
• Support system start-ups, shutdowns, and reset procedures.

Troubleshooting Assistance

• Assist Level II/III Technicians with basic mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting.
• Replace simple components (sensors, rollers, belts, photo-eyes, fuses).
• Escalate issues that may affect partner safety or system uptime.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all LOTO, MHEO, and DC safety protocols; maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
• Document work in CMMS with accuracy and timeliness.
• Support incident investigations and root-cause data gathering.

Cross-Functional Support

• Partner with Operations to ensure equipment availability.
• Communicate issues clearly to supervisors and operators.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years industrial maintenance or technical schooling preferred.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, electrical safety, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read simple schematics and equipment manuals.
• Strong desire to learn automation, controls, and robotics.
