Operations Manager, Operational Control Centre

Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities like solar PV and batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our solar PV and battery operations further.

As anOperations Manager at Vattenfall's Operational Control Centre, you will play a pivotal role in developing our people, strengthening our operations, and supporting the safe and efficient monitoring of more than 1,500 wind turbines across Europe. You will join a highly skilled team that works around the clock to ensure reliable renewable energy production and help deliver on Vattenfall's ambition to accelerate the energy transition. Vattenfall's Operational Control Centre (OCC) is a central part of our Business Unit Wind, Offshore, Generation. We monitor more than 1,500 wind turbines and provide support to all Vattenfall sites onshore and offshore within turbine monitoring, high-voltage control and marine coordination, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our goal is simple: to ensure high availability, safe operations and reliable renewable energy production, enabling us to accelerate the transition to a fossil-free future together.

What will you do?

As Operations Manager, you will lead and support a team of Operational Control Centre Operators while ensuring safe, efficient and well-coordinated operations. You will work closely with your team, stakeholders and management colleagues to create an environment where people can develop, operations run smoothly and continuous improvement becomes part of everyday work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and coaching a team of approximately 10 Operators, creating an inclusive and collaborative working environment. 
• Conducting regular performance and development dialogues focused on growth, learning and engagement. 
• Driving competency development and identifying training opportunities for your team. 
• Coordinating shift and resource planning to ensure operational efficiency while maintaining employee well-being.
• Ensuring compliance with operational procedures and safety requirements across all shifts. 
• Facilitating department meetings and encouraging communication, knowledge sharing and collaboration. 
• Working closely with operational sites and internal stakeholders to exchange best practices and strengthen partnerships. 
• Supporting process harmonisation and continuous improvement initiatives within the department. 
• Contributing to improvements in systems, processes and procedures to increase effectiveness and service quality. 
• Supporting the Manager of Control Centre and Senior Technician with operational priorities and ad hoc matters.

You will likely bring:

• Experience supporting or managing teams in an operational environment.
• Several years of professional experience in operations, engineering, business management or a related field. 
• Experience driving change, continuous improvement or workforce development initiatives. 
• The ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with different stakeholders and disciplines.
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting others to succeed. 
• Experience with procedures, process optimisation or operational governance is considered an advantage.
• An open mindset, curiosity and a willingness to learn. 
• Professional proficiency in English.

Experience within the energy sector, wind industry or other technical environments is beneficial, but not essential.

The position is based inEsbjerg, Denmark, where the Operational Control Centre team is located.
