Youth and Community Engagement Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:

The Youth & Community Engagement Coordinator leads culturally grounded youth and community engagement activities for the Keetoowah Healing Circle. The position builds relationships with youth, families, elders, schools, tribal programs, and community partners while coordinating opportunities for meaningful participation throughout the planning process. The Coordinator ensures that youth and community voices are reflected in the GONA, Tribal SWOT analysis, Tribal Community Board, System of Care blueprint, and other project activities. This is a non-treatment position.

JOB DUTIES: 

· Coordinate culturally grounded community outreach, youth engagement, listening sessions,

   surveys, and public education activities.

· Recruit, organize, and support Youth Council members and activities.

· Recruit youth, families, elders, and community members for project activities, workshops, and

   engagement opportunities.

· Support youth and community participation in GONA planning, Tribal Community Board

   meetings, and other project events.

· Build and maintain relationships with schools, tribal programs, families, caregivers, elders,

   youth-serving organizations, and other community partners.

· Coordinate culturally grounded create-to-cope workshops, community events, cultural

   activities, and the cultural art day/gallery showcase.

· Gather and document youth and community feedback for the Tribal SWOT analysis, System of

   Care blueprint, and other project planning activities.

· Document youth and community recommendations and how they are incorporated into project

   planning and decision-making.

· Maintain required consent, attendance, outreach, participation, and activity records.

· Assist with event planning, participant recruitment, logistics, and coordination of volunteers,

   peer leaders, facilitators, interns, and vendors.

· Ensure engagement activities are culturally appropriate, accessible, and inclusive of youth,

   families, and the broader community served.

· Perform other project-related engagement and outreach duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least two years of experience in community outreach, youth engagement, tribal programs, family services, mentoring, prevention, recreation, child welfare, cultural programming, or a related field.
• Experience working with youth, families, elders, schools, tribal programs, or rural communities.
• Experience recruiting participants, facilitating engagement activities, or coordinating community events.
• Strong communication, organization, relationship-building, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse community members and community partners.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the project service area as needed for outreach, meetings, events, and community engagement activities.

NOTE:

In reference to the Personnel Policy, Section 1-5 Employment At -Will. All employees who do not have a written contract with the employer for a specific fixed term of employment are thereby employed at the will of the employer for an indefinite period. Employment with the Health Center, without a written contract, is voluntary and therefore employees are free to resign at will at any time with or without cause or reason likewise, the health Center may terminate the employment relationship at will at anytime with or without notice and for any lawful reason deemed appropriate by the Tribe and Health Center staff or for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all. This policy is commonly referred to as “employment -at- will.”
