Position Summary
South Seattle Otolaryngology, a well-established private practice and care center of Proliance Surgeons, is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about providing excellent patient care, able to multitask, and adaptable in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Schedule
Monday-Thursday 7:30a-5p, Friday 8a-12p
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Patient Care: Obtain and document vital signs, patient history, allergies, and chief complaints; prepare patients for exams and procedures; assist providers with clinical procedures; and collect laboratory specimens.
2. Patient Communication & Follow-Up: Communicate test results as directed, perform phone triage and post-operative calls, respond to voicemail, and coordinate appropriate patient follow-up.
3. Medical Records & Documentation: Accurately document clinical information, medications, health history, visits, communications, and follow-up in the electronic medical record.
4. Care Coordination & Medications: Coordinate outside diagnostic testing and medical care; assist with referring physician communication, electronic prescribing, and medication management.
5. Equipment & Supplies: Prepare, clean, maintain, and stock clinical equipment and supplies; properly dispose of contaminated materials and sterilize instruments.
In addition to Medical Assistant general functions, this position will also provide Allergy Services: Perform allergy testing, prepare and mix customized allergy immunotherapy vials, and administer allergy injections under physician supervision. Allergy experience is preferred, but we are happy to train a motivated Medical Assistant who is eager to learn.
Education/Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred, but not required. Will provide training
- Current Washington State Medical Assistant Certification preferred, but not required (see above)
- 1-2 years’ experience in a medical office preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medications
- Familiarity with or working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records a plus
- Basic computer knowledge and skills, including data entry
- Superior customer service skills
