Security Officer $22.00 per Hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Required to maintain a valid and active weapon permit to carry out job duties consistent with carrying a firearm.
2. Maintaining proficiency with a firearm, including the ability to demonstrate proficiency upon request.
3. Ensuring that established rules, regulations, policies and procedures are carried out at all times.
4. Ability to lift and carry various items ranging in weight between 0-100 pounds.
5. Ability to push and pull various items ranging in weight between 0-100 pounds .
6. Ability to walk and stand throughout an entire shift, eight (8) hours or more.
7. Ability to work in areas of confined space.
8. Physically pursuing, detaining and/or arresting a patron or employee.
9. Investigating accidents, thefts and disturbances.
10. Testifying in court as needed.
11. Providing escorts as needed
12. In the event of an emergency, ensuring that established policies and procedures pertaining to safety and security are carried out.
13. Unlocking appropriate doors for employees as needed.
14. Providing emergency first aid in appropriate situations.
15. Operating the following equipment: Portable radio, electric cart, and parking lot transportation carts.
16. Driving a company-provided truck or other vehicle.
17. Ability to work full-time and any overtime as required, with or without notice.
18. Hand-writing incident reports. Occasionally using a computer to complete incident reports. 
19. Pushing an occupied wheelchair and/or carrying one end of an occupied stretcher to transport patrons and/or employees as needed. Lifting a patron/employee into a wheelchair and/or stretcher as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Walking and/or standing throughout an entire shift of eight (8) hours or more.
2. Physically able to pursue, capture and detain individuals if necessary.
3. Running in pursuit of patrons and/or employees to effectuate detentions and/or arrests. Running various distances (for example across the casino floor and/or parking lot) to respond to other emergencies as needed.
4. Wearing an equipment belt weighing approximately 10-12 pounds while on duty.
5. Lifting of over 100 lbs. to assist a patron on to a stretcher or wheelchair. Pushing force up to 75 lbs. to assist an employee/patron in a wheelchair.

QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience Required:  Must have all state required permits.

Education:       High School Diploma, Weapons Permit, Active Guard Card, Baton Permit, and First Aid/CPR certifications are required at the time of appointment, or have the ability to obtain such permits within 6 months of appointment.

Other Requirements: 

1. Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English language.
2. Current California driver license.
3. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
4. Must complete continuing education and training during employment at a minimum of twice per year.
5. Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.
