PARK FACILITY MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Summary:
Supervises and directs field crews responsible for the maintenance, repair, construction, and operation of city parks, athletic fields, pools, buildings, and other recreational facilities. The position assigns work, establishes schedules, inspects facilities, ensures quality and safety standards, and participates directly in maintenance activities.

Responsibilities:

• Supervising staff: Direct, train, motivate, and evaluate full-time, seasonal, and maintenance employees.
• Maintenance operations: Oversee grounds, buildings, athletic fields, pools, equipment, and facilities; perform and inspect maintenance and repairs.
• Work planning: Schedule and delegate work, estimate labor and materials, monitor projects, and address deficiencies or major repair needs.
• Equipment and supplies: Maintain tools, machinery, chemicals, and inventory; perform mechanical maintenance as needed.
• Projects and contractors: Read plans/blueprints, coordinate construction and repair projects, work with contractors and other departments, and ensure code compliance.
• Safety and compliance: Enforce safe work practices, maintain accident records, and ensure proper handling and documentation of chemicals and equipment.
• Public interaction: Respond to public questions and complaints regarding facility maintenance and take corrective action.
• Specialized operations: Depending on assignment, oversee mowing, irrigation, pesticide application, cemetery maintenance, athletic field preparation, building/janitorial operations, pool maintenance and water quality, and snow removal.
• Hands-on work: Participate directly in the maintenance duties performed by subordinate crews.
  
  

Qualifications:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training infacilities maintenance, building maintenance, horticulture, or a related field.
Three (3) years of experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of municipal park

facilities and buildings including one (1) year of lead supervisory responsibility.

Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Commercial Driver’s License.
