Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Engineer and Cloud Administrator will lead and oversee the administration, documentation, and operational continuity of HRI's Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure, Meraki network environment, and Windows/Linux server estate. The incumbent will oversee cloud-hosted workloads including EKS-deployed applications and RDS instances; lead and oversee the administration of Meraki MX/MS/MR infrastructure and associated VPN services and lead the ongoing migration of on-premises workloads to AWS. The incumbent will collaborate with the Information Systems staff to identify and implement technology improvements that advance organizational efficiency. The incumbent will also be responsible for establishing and overseeing cloud and network standards and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and four years of experience in cloud infrastructure administration, systems engineering, network administration or closely related experience; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and six years of such experience; OR eight years of such experience.  A Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field may substitute for one year of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience administering Amazon Web Services in a production environment, including EC2, RDS, VPC networking, and IAM.
• Experience operating Kubernetes in production, including Amazon EKS.
• Experience administering Cisco Meraki in a hybrid environment, including MX security appliances, MS switches, MR wireless access points, and virtual MX appliances deployed in a cloud VPC.
• Experience configuring and supporting site-to-site and client VPN connectivity between on-premises and cloud networks.
• Experience administering both Windows Server and Linux systems in a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment.
• Experience securing public-facing cloud endpoints, including load balancers, web application firewalls, and network access controls.
• Experience migrating on-premises workloads to a public cloud platform.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform, and scripting for automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel up to 10% of the time will be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.

Work Location Expectations

At HRI, the nature of hybrid and onsite work varies by position. Some roles require full onsite presence, while others allow a hybrid schedule. Managers determine the specific telecommuting expectations for each role based on operational needs and job responsibilities. If designated as hybrid, you will divide your time between working remotely and reporting onsite.
