Role Overview

We are hiring a Software Engineer to design and own Coupang's Global Mobility (GM) data infrastructure from the ground up. Operating within our HR organization, the GM team supports relocating international employees through immigration, housing, onboarding, and family integration (schools, healthcare, compliance).

You will work directly alongside our Director of Product Management to architect the data backbone that powers reporting, automation, and strategic HR operations for global talent across Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and beyond. You will define the architecture and own technical execution end-to-end. 

What You Will Do

• Design a greenfield AWS Data Lake architecture, schema models, and data contracts with upstream HR/Talent systems while ensuring strict PIPA compliance.
• Consolidate disparate source system ETL pipelines (relocation, visa, vendor, payroll) into a unified, reliable architecture.
• Build multi-country logic and data routing engines for operations across Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.
• Power operational BI, analytical reporting, and process automation for GM, payroll, and compliance teams.
• Design data quality frameworks, validation rules, monitoring, and automated alerting for production pipelines.
• Own technical execution, infrastructure provisioning, tooling selection, ADRs, and operational runbooks while PM handles stakeholder communication.
• Balance short-term go-live urgency (Q3 target) with long-term architectural integrity and scalability.

Qualifications

• System Architecture: Proven track record designing, building, and operating complex systems end-to-end; ability to translate ambiguous business needs into concrete technical specifications for Year 1 and Year 2 scale
• Backend Engineering: 3+ years of production software engineering experience (SDE background required) with deep Python or Java expertise; strong AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, Glue) and database design skills.
• Data Engineering: 1+ years of ETL/ELT pipeline design and orchestration experience (Airflow, Temporal, or similar); expertise in dynamic schema design, data validation, and pipeline observability.
• Collaboration: Strong partnership skills with PMs and cross-functional teams; proactive in surfacing blockers, proposing solutions, and maintaining thorough technical documentation.
• Compliance & Governance: Understanding of data governance, privacy standards, and stakeholder navigation across cross-functional priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience handling sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and compliance standards.
• Experience with Coupang tech stack or multi-region system deployments.
• Track record of taking technical projects from greenfield to production end-to-end.
• Openness to tool-mediated or asynchronous non-English technical communication.

In preparation for a job applicant’s request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process. If no request is made until the end of this period, all his/her hiring documents will be destroyed immediately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.
5. The above paragraphs 1 - 4 shall only apply when the labor-related laws of Korea govern the application. They are otherwise not applicable.

HR 조직 산하 Global Mobility (GM) 팀의 데이터 인프라스트럭처를 초기 단계부터 설계하고 전담할 소프트웨어 엔지니어를 모십니다.

GM 팀은 글로벌 인재들이 한국, 대만, 일본 등 새로운 국가와 쿠팡 환경에 연착륙할 수 있도록 이민, 비자, 주거, 자녀 교육, 의료, 정착 지원 등 온보딩 전 과정을 책임집니다. 본 포지션은 Director of PM과 2인 코어 팀을 이루어, 글로벌 임직원의 정착 지원 및 인사/급여/컴플라이언스 프로세스를 자동화하고 시각화하는 전사 데이터 인프라스트럭처의 백본(Backbone)을 아키텍처링합니다.

기술 스택 선택부터 데이터 모델링, 파이프라인 구축까지 엔지니어링 오너십을 완전히 행사하며, 대규모 시스템 구축 및 크로스 펑셔널 협업을 통해 역량을 증명하고 포트폴리오를 확장할 수 있는 기회입니다.

업무 내용

• Greenfield 기반 AWS 데이터 레이크 아키텍처, 스키마, 상류 HR 시스템과의 데이터 계약(Data Contract) 설계 및 PIPA(개인정보보호법) 준수 인프라 구축.
• 파편화된 이주/비자, 외부 대행사, 정착 지원, 급여(Payroll) 데이터 소스를 단일 파이프라인으로 ETL 통합.
• 한국, 대만, 일본 등 국가별 법률 및 인사 제도를 반영한 다국적 데이터 라우팅 엔진 구축.
• GM 운영, 급여, 컴플라이언스 팀을 위한 분석 리포팅(BI) 환경 구축 및 온보딩 수속 프로세스 자동화 지원.
• 프로덕션 데이터 파이프라인의 데이터 퀄리티 프레임워크, 유효성 검증(Validation), 모니터링 및 알림 체계 구축.
• 기술 스택 선정, 데이터 모델링, 인프라 프로비저닝, ADR 및 운영 런북 작성 등 기술적 실행의 완벽한 소유.

자격요건

• 시스템 아키텍처: 복잡한 시스템을 End-to-End로 직접 설계/운영해 본 경험, 모호한 요구사항을 명확한 기술 사양으로 전환하는 능력, 1~2년 차 확장을 고려하는 설계 역량.
• 백엔드 엔지니어링: 3년 이상의 프로덕션 소프트웨어 엔지니어링 경험 (SDE 백그라운드 필수), Python 또는 Java에 대한 깊은 이해, AWS(EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, Glue) 및 데이터베이스 설계 능력.
