Rocket Pay는 쿠팡 생태계 내 결제를 넘어 온라인 및 오프라인 가맹점까지 확장되는 범용 결제 플랫폼으로, 대규모 결제 트래픽과 금융 데이터를 기반으로 새로운 고객 경험을 제공합니다. Product Engineering 조직은 이러한 플랫폼 확장을 위한 핵심 결제 시스템, Wallet, Authorization, Settlement, Reconciliation, Merchant Services 및 Fintech Platform 전반을 설계·개발하고 운영합니다. 이 조직은 단순히 기능을 개발하는 팀이 아니라, 수천만 사용자의 결제 경험과 수십조 원 규모의 트랜잭션을 지원하는 차세대 핀테크 플랫폼의 아키텍처를 정의하는 팀입니다.

Senior Staff Backend Engineer는 Rocket Pay 핵심 도메인의 기술적 방향성을 정의하며, 결제 플랫폼 전반의 아키텍처와 엔지니어링 전략을 주도합니다. 국내 최대 규모의 결제 인프라 중 하나를 운영하며, 시스템 안정성·확장성·보안·성능에 대한 End-to-End 책임을 갖습니다. 또한 조직 내 기술 리더로서 설계 리뷰, 기술 의사결정 및 엔지니어 멘토링을 수행합니다.

• Backend 개발 경력 12년 이상을 보유하신 분
• Java/Kotlin, Spring Framework 기반의 대규모 분산 시스템을 설계하고 운영한 경험을 보유하신 분
• 하나 이상의 복잡한 서비스 또는 도메인에 대해 기술적 오너십을 가지고 주도적으로 개선한 경험을 보유하신 분
• 성능, 안정성, 데이터 정합성, 보안을 고려한 시스템 설계 역량을 보유하신 분
• 모호한 문제를 구조화하고, 기술적 판단을 통해 실제 비즈니스 임팩트를 만들어낸 경험을 보유하신 분
• 고객 경험과 비즈니스 요구를 이해하고, 이를 기술적으로 풀어내는 데 높은 흥미와 책임감을 보유하신 분

• JPA, MSA 환경에서의 아키텍처 설계 및 마이그레이션 리딩 경험을 보유하신 분

The Product Engineering team owns the technology platform behind Rocket Pay, Coupang Pay's next-generation payment ecosystem. We are transforming a payment solution that was once limited to the Coupang ecosystem into a universal payment platform that serves customers across online and offline commerce. Our systems process massive transaction volumes and support critical financial operations including payment processing, wallet services, merchant onboarding, settlement, reconciliation, risk controls, and financial reporting. Basic Qualifications

• 12+ years of backend engineering experience 
• Ability to design and operate large-scale distributed systems based on Java/Kotlin and the Spring Framework
• Experience owning and proactively driving improvements for one or more complex services or domains with strong ownership
• Ability to design systems with strong consideration for performance, reliability, data consistency, and security
• Experience structuring ambiguous problems and making technical decisions that resulted in tangible business impact
• Ability to understand customer experience and business requirements and translate them into well-architected technical solutions with a high level of ownership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading architecture design and migration in JPA- and MSA-based environments
• Experience in development and operations within the Payment / Fintech domain
• Experience responding to incidents, building monitoring systems, and improving SLAs in high-traffic environments
• Experience handling large-scale data processing with strong guarantees around settlement and reconciliation accuracy
• Experience demonstrating technical leadership in agile software development environments
• Experience influencing other engineers through sound technical judgment and system design decisions

Document Return Policy

1. This notification is given pursuant to Article 11 (6) of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act.  
2. A job applicant, who has applied but not been finally selected for a position at Coupang (the “Company”), may request the Company to return his/her hiring documents submitted pursuant to the Fair Hiring Procedure Act. However, this will not apply where the hiring documents were submitted via the website of the Company or e-mail, or where the job applicant submitted those documents voluntarily without a request from the Company. In addition, if the hiring documents were destroyed due to a natural disaster or any other reasons not attributable to the Company, such documents will be deemed to have been returned to the job applicant.  
3. A job applicant who wishes to request the return of his/her hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above should fill out a “Request for Return of Hiring Documents” [Annex Form No. 3 in the Enforcement Rule of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act] and submit It by email (recruitingops@coupangpay.com). In such case, within fourteen (14) days from the date of identifying the receipt of the request, the Company will send the hiring documents to the job applicant’s designated address via registered mail. Please be informed that the job applicant is required to pay the postage on the registered mail.  
4. In preparation for a job applicant’s request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process. If no request is made until the end of this period, all his/her hiring documents will be destroyed immediately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.  
5. The above paragraphs 1 - 4 shall only apply when the labor-related laws of Korea govern the application. They are otherwise not applicable.
