Phlebotomist 

Full Time –ThirdShift

The Clinical Laboratory Services Departmentprovides a comprehensive range of diagnostic testing services that support patient care throughout Baptist Health Corbin. The laboratory is committed to deliveringtimely,accurate, and reliable test results toassist providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease. Through advanced technology, skilled laboratory professionals, and a focus on quality, the department supports the organization's mission, vision, and strategic priorities. 

The phlebotomistis responsible for specimen collections, accessioning,labeling and transport ofspecimens; whileoptimizing patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors in any or all the sections of the Clinical Laboratory. 

Description: 

• Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages using proper collection techniques, safety practices, and infection control procedures.  

• Accuratelyidentifies patients and labels specimens according to established protocols.   

• Processes, documents, andtracks of specimens within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).   

• Ensurestimely specimen collection, handling, and delivery to support efficient laboratory operations.   

• Communicates professionally and compassionately with patients, physicians, and coworkers whilemaintaining patient confidentiality.   

• Supports quality assurance initiatives and follows all hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.   

• Assists with inventory monitoring, supply management, and training of new employees and students.   

• Provides excellent customer service and responds promptly to patient and departmental needs. 

Requirements: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent. 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. New employeesrequiring CPR should have basic life support (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.
