Engineering Manager, AI Product Development

Role Summary

Join Wisedocs as anEngineering Manager, AI Product Development to lead the next generation of our medical document analysis platform. In this role, you'll manage 2-3 cross-functional pods, guiding AI product and model development from prototype to production at scale. You'll own core data, labeling, training, and inference capabilities while pushing the frontier of medical and claims-based models.

You'll have the opportunity to tackle ambitious technical challenges—your team has recently rebuilt inference pipelines for 100x scale, cracked parsing 50k-page PDFs, deployed into isolated government environments, and built a comprehensive medical document reasoning benchmark. This is both a people leadership and technical leadership role, where you'll work cross-functionally to ship products customers love while scaling our AI capabilities across the organization.

What We Have  

We currently have four types of AI systems running in production, a comprehensive entity classification system, a comprehensive set of internal data labelling applications, an AI playbook and workflow product and a set of Summarization models. What you'll be doing

• Coach and grow an existing strong IC team 

• Collaborating with other technical stakeholders and leaders to actively work towards the design and implementation of systems. 

• Ensuring the reliability and scalability of ML systems, implementing best practices in data engineering and model lifecycle management. 

• Work with our expert in the loop teams to build industry leading evaluations 

• Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as projects develop, adjust and mature. 

You're a great candidate if you have

• Experience working across multiple engineering teams to deliver projects 

• Technical excellence in one area of Machine Learning 

• Strengths in one of backend engineering, data engineering or cloud engineering 

• Ability to think through problems end to end, including data, infrastructure, research, monitoring and inference considerations 

• Possess professional working experience with LLMs, RAG, BERT based models.  

• A track record of developing high-quality, maintainable code.  

• Excellent problem-solving skills in an independent and team setting 

• Are enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, innovative environment, contributing to a team that aims to make a significant impact in the medical and insurance tech space.
