Winter Co-op 2027 - Product Designer

As a Product Designer, you will join the Global Design System team and contribute to the evolution of Manulife's digital experiences. Working closely with senior designers, product teams, and developers, you will help design and maintain scalable, accessible, and user-centered experiences through our enterprise design system. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product design, visual design, design systems, and digital product development.

Position Responsibilities:

• Support the creation, refinement, and maintenance of reusable design system components and patterns.
• Createwireframes, mockups, prototypes, and visual designs for digital experiences across web and mobile platforms.
• Collaborate with product designers, developers, researchers, and business stakeholders to solve user and business challenges through thoughtful design solutions.
• Contribute to the ongoingenhancement of the design system by improving component flexibility, consistency, and usability.
• Maintain and update design documentation, guidelines, naming conventions, and best practices.
• Help ensure designs meet accessibility standards and promote inclusive user experiences.
• Participate in design critiques, collaborative workshops, and cross-functional team discussions.
• Contribute to research, journey mapping, and other user-centered design activities when required.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Product Design, UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Digital Media, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Global Business & Digital Arts, Systems Design, or a related discipline.
• Experience using Figma to create digital experiences, prototypes, and design assets.
• Strong visual design skills with a demonstrated attention to detail.
• Understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking methodologies.
• Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• A portfolio showcasing design projects, digital products, visual design work, or UX/UI case studies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with design systems or component libraries.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG and AODA.
• Experience with user research, usability testing, or customer journey mapping.
• Familiarity with service design methodologies and design strategy.
• Exposure to Agile or Scrum product development environments.
• Understanding of digital product development and modern web experiences.

Salary range is expected to be between:

$40,950.00 CAD - $56,550.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. The annual salary will be pro-rated based on the length of the work-term.
