The William & Mary Law School is recruiting a pool of adjunct faculty to teach one or more courses within the Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) residential programs.Job Description:
Adjunct faculty serve a vital role within the Law School and are valued members of the community. Under the guidance of the Assistant Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, adjunct faculty design and teach courses,facilitate course activities, provide students withtimely feedback, and grade assignments and exams. Adjunct faculty are provided with professional learning opportunities and are invited to attend on-campus events.Â
Â
Adjunct duties include:Â
Prepare the syllabus and relevant material for course deliveryÂ
Provide students withtimely and specific feedbackÂ
Grade assignments and examsin a timely manner and no later thanthe deadline set by the law schoolÂ
Respond to student inquiries within 24 hoursÂ
Offer weekly office hours for individual or group consultationÂ
Submit final grades according to William & Mary policy and the individual program calendarsÂ
Submit end-of-semester feedback and reflection formÂ
Maintain frequent and open communication with William & Mary faculty and staff through email,telephone, and any other mediumdeemed appropriateÂ

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree, Juris Doctor or equivalent, or other graduate degreedirectly related to the disciplinefrom an accredited college or university.Â
Expertise and relevant professional and/or instructional experience in general law education, Business Law, Criminal Law & Procedure, Environmental Law,Intellectual Property, International Law, National Security Law, Public Interest and Social Justice, or Political Law.Â
Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills.Â

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience providing instruction to adult learners in an academic or corporate setting.Â

Conditions of Employment:
This is a part-time position paid semi-monthly over theterm of the course. This position is not benefit-eligible.Â
