About us:
Wifinity was founded in 2007 to solve a problemâour armed forces were struggling with reliable connectivity. While living in barracks, often in remote locations, ordering a landline and booking in an engineer just wasnât an option.
And that problem isnât exclusive to the military, either. Students living in University accommodation, families visiting holiday resorts, or living in shared accommodation and retirement communities.
Conventional home broadband doesnât always work for them.
Wifinity is different. We offer the same benefits as traditional broadband, such as super-fast speeds, WiFi, and secure and private networks, but none of the downsides. We even offer Pay As You Go and flexible contracts, so customers only pay for what they need without hefty penalties or long contract terms.

The opportunity:
The Network Monitoring & Observability Engineer is responsible for proactively monitoring and improving the performance, availability, and reliability of Wifinityâs managed Wi-Fi and network infrastructure across multiple customer environments.Â
This role will initially focus on network monitoring, alerting, and incident response, while progressively evolving into observability and AIOps capabilities, including alert correlation, automation, and service-level insight, problem profiling and resolution guidance.Â
The role ensures seamless connectivity for end-users through rapid incident detection, effective troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of monitoring and operational processes, while contributing to the organisationâs transition towards a proactive, intelligent operations model.Â
Key areas of focus:
Monitoring & Incident Response (Core Role â Day 1)Â
- Maintain, configure, and continuously enhance network monitoring platforms, proactively proposing and implementing improvements to enable faster and more accurate detection of performanceâimpacting issues.Â
- Monitor Wi-Fi and network infrastructure across multiple sites (Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN)Â
- Respond to alerts and proactively identify performance issues Â
- Troubleshoot network faults and support rapid restoration of serviceÂ
- Analyse key performance metrics (AP health, client experience, latency, authentication)Â
- Perform root cause analysis and support resolution of recurring issuesÂ
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external vendors to deliver resolutionsÂ
Alerting & Signal ImprovementÂ
- Configure and refine monitoring alerts and thresholdsÂ
- Reduce false positives and alert noise to improve operational efficiencyÂ
- Ensure alerts are actionable and aligned to real service impactÂ
- Contribute to the design of improved alerting strategies (tagging, routing, prioritisation)Â
Observability Evolution Â
- Support the transition from monitoring to observability by:Â Â
- Improving telemetry coverage (metrics, logs, events)Â
- Enhancing service-level visibilityÂ
- Contribute to correlation of alerts and events to identify root causes fasterÂ
- Assist in developing service health dashboards and performance reportingÂ
Automation & Workflow Integration Â
- Support integration of monitoring tools into operational workflows (e.g. ticketing systems)Â
- Assist with: Â
- Alert enrichmentÂ
- Auto-ticketing and routingÂ
- Data extraction and reporting automationÂ
- Contribute to the development of runbooks and standard response proceduresÂ
Continuous ImprovementÂ
- Identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvementÂ
- Contribute to improvements in:Â Â
- Monitoring coverageÂ
- Alert logicÂ
- Incident handling processesÂ
- Support development of documentation, SOPs, and knowledge baseÂ
Reporting & Service InsightÂ
- Produce and maintain dashboards and reports on: Â
- Network performanceÂ
- AvailabilityÂ
- Incident trendsÂ
- Support reporting on KPIs such as:Â Â
- UptimeÂ
- MTTD / MTTRÂ
- SLA complianceÂ
Customer & Operational FocusÂ
- Take ownership of incidents through to resolutionÂ

- Support proactive identification of customer impactÂ
About you:
You are a proactive and analytical network operations professional with strong troubleshooting capabilities and a desire to develop into observability and automation.Â
You are:Â
- Customer-focused and outcome-drivenÂ
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environmentÂ
- Interested in improving monitoring through automation and smarter data useÂ
- Willing to learn and adopt new approaches such as AIOps and AI-assisted diagnosticsÂ
We are looking for someone that:Â
- Has strong troubleshooting and incident prioritisation skillsÂ
- Is comfortable working in a NOC or operational support environmentÂ
- Can analyse alerts and identify patterns or underlying issuesÂ
- Is keen to develop skills in:Â Â
- ObservabilityÂ
- AutomationÂ
- AI-assisted operationsÂ
- Demonstrates a proactive mindset and ownership of problemsÂ
- Communicates clearly and works effectively across teamsÂ
Your experience:
- Experience in a NOC or 24x7 monitoring environment (or similar operational role)Â
- Experience with monitoring tools (PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Datadog or similar)Â
- Understanding of Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking fundamentalsÂ
- Familiarity with Wi-Fi technologies and platforms (e.g. Ruckus, Cambium, TP-Link)Â
- Understanding of authentication (e.g. RADIUS, captive portals)Â
- Basic scripting or automation experience (Python, PowerShell, APIs) (desirable)Â
- Awareness of:Â Â
- Alert correlationÂ
- Automation workflowsÂ
- AI/AIOps concepts (desirable but not essential)Â
Qualifications Â
Essential - Degree in IT or related fields (or equivalent experience).âŻÂ
Desirable - Certifications such as CCNA, CWNA, Network+, ITILâŻpreferred.âŻÂ
