We’re looking for aStaff Engineer who combines strong software engineering expertise with deep experience in cloud-native platforms — and a passion forinnovation.
This is not an operational role. It is a high-impact, design-focused position centered aroundbuilding, architecting, and evolving modern systems, while driving forward the next generation of technology in Wabtec

You will influence engineering standards, guide architectural decisions, and design scalable, cloud-native solutions. You’ll explore new technologies, prototype ideas, and help translate innovation into real, impactful products.

We want someonecurious, investigative, communicative, hands-on, and comfortable exploring the unknown — someone who thrives on solving complex problems with clean, elegant engineering.

What do we want to know about you?

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Programming skills inPython or Go.
• Solid understanding ofsoftware design patterns, clean architecture, and distributed systems.
• Strong, hands-on experience withcloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  →AWS experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience withKubernetes (deployment, architecture, usage for cloud-native services).
• Fluency inGitLab CI/CD and modern pipeline design.
• Experience withInfrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation preferred).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills — able to influence and guide teams.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Nice to Have

• Experience inmulti-cloud environments.
• Experience withinnovation environments, rapid prototyping, or research‑driven engineering.

What will your typical day look like?

• Buildcloud-native, distributed systems focused on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• UsePython or Go to develop services, automations, and innovative cloud integrations.
• Work with AWS (or other cloud vendors) to design infrastructure, services, and platform components.
• Contribute toCI/CD improvements using GitLab CI.
• Write and evolve infrastructure usingTerraform or CloudFormation.
• Design and guideKubernetes-based deployments and workloads.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore new technologies and bring innovative concepts to life.
• Prototype ideas, validate hypotheses, and help shape the technical direction of the innovation group.
• Drive engineering excellence through documentation, patterns, mentorship, and technical leadership.
• Promotecuriosity, investigation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the team.
