Who will you be working with?
You will work with theControls Engineering and Validation teams, collaborating with system engineers, software developers, lab teams, and global stakeholders. This role also interfaces with external partners and cross-functional teams involved in design, testing, and deployment.
How will you make a difference?
As a Senior Software Engineer focused on IV&V (Integration, Verification & Validation), you will ensure the reliability and quality of locomotive control software prior to deployment. You will lead the development and execution of test strategies across multiple platforms, including HITL, MITL, and real locomotive environments. This role is critical in validating system performance, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement of testing methodologies, contributing directly to safe and robust product delivery.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree inElectrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Large experience in design, testing, or validation engineering.
- Strong experience withIV&V activities and system-level validation.
- Hands-on experience withHITL, MITL, SITL, or system-level testing (Rail or Automotive preferred).
- Experience developingtest procedures for control software and embedded systems.
- Strong understanding ofcontrol systems and communication protocols (RS232/422, CAN, Ethernet).
- Experience withtest life cycle tools (e.g., ClearQuest or equivalent).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work hands-on inlab and field (locomotive) environments.
- Availability to travel (<25%).
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience withSysML tools (MagicDraw, DOORS or equivalent).
- Experience withautomation tools (Python, Simulink Test, NI LabVIEW).
- Knowledge oflocomotive control systems or complex embedded systems.
- Experience withtest automation frameworks and solutions.
- Familiarity withapplication lifecycle management (ALM) tools.
- Experience in areas such asengine control, traction systems, or battery management. systems
What will your typical day look like?
- Reviewsystem requirements and functional specifications to define test strategies.
- Develop and maintaintest plans and procedures using tools like MagicDraw and DOORS.
- Execute tests onHITL, MITL, and locomotive environments.
- Analyze results and approve software readiness for deployment.
- Create and trackdefects/deviations, ensuring proper resolution through lifecycle tools.
- Developautomation scripts for testing, data collection, and reporting.
- Performsystem-level validation against requirements and interface specifications.
- Support creation and optimization oftest environments and setups.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams toidentify and resolve issues.
- Generatestatus reports and communicate risks and progress.
- Improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies continuously.
- Contribute independently to technical decisions and program objectives.
