Description
- Research, analyze, and assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) classifications for imported products, equipment, materials, components, and spare parts.
- Gather and evaluate technical product information from engineering drawings, specifications, product literature, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Apply classification methodologies using:
- Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS)
- General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs)
- CBP CROSS rulings
- Explanatory Notes
- Relevant customs regulations and legal authorities.
- Develop and maintain detailed classification justifications to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Customs Operations, Regulatory Compliance, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Business Units to obtain required information and resolve classification questions.
- Review and monitor classification requests to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Support customs audits, internal reviews, customs inquiries, and binding ruling activities.
- Conduct classification quality reviews and consistency checks across systems and processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements, training efforts, and classification governance programs.
- Support annual tariff updates, classification revalidations, and classification data maintenance activities.
