JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The Guidewire Rating Architect is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and optimization of Guidewire Rating solutions within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance ecosystem.
The role involves collaborating with business, underwriting, actuarial, product, and technology teams to develop scalable, high-performing rating solutions that support insurance products, pricing strategies, and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Guidewire Rating Management, PolicyCenter integration, insurance product configuration, and enterprise architecture principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Architecture & Design
- Lead the architecture and design of Guidewire Rating solutions across multiple insurance products and lines of business.
- Define rating strategies, rate books, rate routines, worksheets, variables, and pricing models.
- Develop scalable and maintainable Guidewire Rating architecture aligned with enterprise standards.
- Evaluate business requirements and translate them into effective Guidewire Rating solutions.
Design and configure:
- Rate Books
- Rate Tables
- Rate Routines
- Worksheets
- Rating Variables
- Product Model integrations
- Develop complex rating algorithms using Gosu and Guidewire configuration tools.
- Ensure optimal performance and maintainability of rating calculations.
Design integrations between:
- Guidewire PolicyCenter
- BillingCenter
- ClaimCenter
- External pricing platforms
- Third-party data providers
- Develop API-driven and event-based integration patterns.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects on end-to-end insurance platform architecture.
Work closely with:
- Product Owners
- Underwriters
- Actuarial Teams
- Business Analysts
- Regulatory Teams
- Facilitate workshops and technical design discussions.
- Translate pricing and underwriting rules into Guidewire Rating configurations.
- Provide architectural guidance to Guidewire developers and configuration teams.
- Conduct solution reviews, code reviews, and design assessments.
- Establish development standards, best practices, and governance.
- Mentor junior and senior resources on Guidewire Rating capabilities.
- Analyze and optimize rating performance.
- Identify bottlenecks in rating calculations and integrations.
- Implement caching, data optimization, and performance-tuning strategies.
- Ensure system scalability for high-volume quote and policy transactions.
Ensure solutions comply with:
- Regulatory requirements
- Company standards
- Security policies
- Audit requirements
- Support SIT, UAT, performance testing, and production deployments.
- Maintain architecture and design documentation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of IT experience in insurance technology.
- 5+ years of hands-on Guidewire implementation experience.
- 3+ years of experience designing Guidewire Rating solutions.
- Experience with at least two full-lifecycle Guidewire PolicyCenter implementations.
- Strong Property & Casualty Insurance domain knowledge.
