Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The RAMPP group within QTS is looking to expand its Architecture team, with a focus in this role on Trade Processing. The group provides risk, analytics, and pricing solutions to our Capital Markets business, and manages numerous large-scale initiatives requiring technology governance and architectural oversight. These projects range from targeted applications supporting specific business functions to enterprise-wide multi-year programs. In this role, you will identify and drive solutions for functional architecture requirements across these initiatives, assist application teams in selecting appropriate technologies, and ensure designs align with our broader architecture strategy.

What will you do?

  • Understand Enterprise and QTS standard technologies and usage patterns, serving as a trusted SME for application teams implementing these standards across their systems.

  • Identify opportunities for common technical solutions; develop and problem-solve them in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Build strong working relationships across business units and platforms to establish influence and drive impact with key partners. Collaborate to define and achieve deliverables while meeting both architecture and business outcomes.

  • Facilitate and lead design discussions objectively to build shared agreement on architecture decisions.

  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives of varying complexity efficiently, monitoring and controlling activities according to plan.

  • Contribute to ongoing program governance and administrative activities as required.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 15+ years of professional experience in a senior developer and/or architect role.

  • 10+ years financial services industry experience, including exposure to securities trading desks and systems.

  • Deep understanding of data strategy, analytics platforms, and trade processing systems, with expertise in technical and functional architecture considerations.

  • Experience architecting systems with demanding performance requirements, including low-latency intraday applications and high-throughput compute workloads. Understanding of the architectural trade-offs between real-time responsiveness and batch processing at scale.

  • Track record of successfully driving agreement on design and effecting change through SME expertise, collaboration, and constructive challenge.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with excellent presentation abilities; able to assess stakeholder needs and tailor communication accordingly.

  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; consistently meets high quality standards while managing multiple priorities and concurrent workstreams.

  • Undergraduate degree coupled with experience managing change in complex programs with competing priorities and high request frequency.

Nice-to-have:

  • More detailed knowledge of securities (both Fixed Income and Equity) front, middle and back office trade lifecycle processes and events.

  • Familiarity with quantitative models and the systems that support them.

  • Experience with cloud and on-premise compute infrastructure, particularly around elasticity, resource orchestration, and managing burst compute patterns (e.g., grid computing, Kubernetes, or similar).

  • Knowledge of data streaming architectures, in-memory compute platforms, or other technologies that bridge real-time and batch processing paradigms.

  • Experience in a matrix environment within a large, publicly-traded corporation.

  • Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence across functions and business lines.
