​EDES 461. Teaching Secondary English 2.

Description: Advanced inquiry into special interest areas in the teaching of Secondary English Language Arts in light of contemporary theory and research. Parts of this course may be undertaken in school settings.

This course is not team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):

Education

1.MA in a relevant field (i.e. English Language Arts & Multiliteracies).

2.PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.


Experience

1.Master educator with expert knowledge of:

  • Literacy and/or literacy education for Secondary cycles.
  • Critical literacy approaches (critical, digital and activist guides for teaching).
  • Multi-modal. multi-literacy pedagogy for Secondary cycles.
  • Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers
  • Quebec Education Plan (QEP) Secondary English Language Arts (SELA) competencies & Progression of Learning.

2.Experience as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system.

3.Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.


Other

1.Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level.

2.Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.

3.Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.

4.Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.

5.Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.

1.Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors 

2.Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting in advance of course start date 

3.A commitment to working collaboratively in planning and delivering the course
