As aCharacter Artist at UbisoftToronto, you’ll create high-quality, real-time character art for integration into our projects. You’ll work closely with theArt Director to follow the creative vision and collaborate with theTechnical Director to meet performance goals. Using tools such asZBrush,Marvelous Designer, andscan-based workflows, you’ll produce detailed, optimized characters that bring life and emotion to our worlds while meeting technical and artistic standards.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with theArt Director to deliver detailed, high-qualitycharacter models aligned with the creative vision
- Interpret references to create realisticcharacters andclothing
- Build high-resolution meshes usingscans,digital sculpting, anddigital tailoring tools
- Retopologize assets into optimized,rig-friendly low-poly models for integration
- Create and applytextures usingphysically based rendering workflows
- Generate and optimizeUV layouts for efficient texture usage
- Address feedback fromart andtechnical teams to refine characters
- Partner withanimators,designers, andprogrammers to meet gameplay and technical needs
What you bring to the team
- Proficiency withcharacter modeling tools such as3ds Max,Maya, orBlender
- Advanceddigital sculpting skills withZBrush and garment creation withMarvelous Designer
- Experience working withscan-based andphoto-real assets
- Knowledge oftopology for animation and facial expression range
- Expertise intexturing using tools likeSubstance Painter, includingnormal map extraction
- Understanding ofphysically based rendering workflows and efficient texture space usage
- Knowledge ofhuman anatomy, clothing form, and character silhouette
- Acollaborative mindset with the ability to adapt to project pipelines and technical constraints
