As anAssociate Technical Director, Animation at Ubisoft Montréal, you will support the development, optimization, and evolution of production pipelines. You will work closely with artists, designers, and technical teams to improve workflows, solve technical challenges, and ensure data quality across the production pipeline. The Associate Technical Director, Animation plays a key role in bridging creative vision and technical execution.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintainpipeline tools that improve workflow efficiency and production quality.
  • Collaborate with creative and technical stakeholders to identifytechnical needs and propose solutions.
  • Research, prototype, and benchmarktechnical solutions aligned with production requirements.
  • Supportoptimization and debugging efforts by following up on identified technical issues.
  • Write, update, and maintaintechnical documentation for pipelines and processes.
  • Define and promote ashared technical nomenclature across teams.
  • Train and support users on tools and pipelines while reinforcingtechnical constraints and best practices.
  • Validate production data and assist team members withtechnical problem-solving, escalating risks when needed.
  • Strong hands-on experience withdigital content creation (DCC) tools such as MotionBuilder, Maya, Houdini, or 3DS Max.
  • Practical understanding ofapplication programming interface (API) workflows.
  • Proficiency inPython andvisual scripting, with working knowledge of C# or C++ considered an asset.
  • Experience working withShotGrid or similar production management tools.
  • Ability to produce clear and structuredtechnical documentation.
  • Strongcommunication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical partners.
  • Familiarity withOpen Shading Language and shader development considered an asset.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong interest inpipeline development and technical problem-solving.
