Job Description:Â
The Student Prep Cookis responsible forassisting in food preparation by following standardized recipes and safety guidelines. They will work under the supervision of culinary staff to prepare ingredients,maintain cleanliness, and ensure food is ready for production and service.Â
Expectations:Â
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines (HACCP andServSafe standards).Â
Prepare andportion ingredients as directed by supervisors.Â
Properly store ingredients andmaintainaccurate labeling.Â
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilemaintaining organization.Â
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors.Â
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.Â
Follow knife safety protocols and proper cutting techniques.Â
Complete assigned prep work within scheduled timelines.Â
Assist in setting up and breaking down the prep station daily.Â
Task List (15 Tasks):Â
- Wash, peel, chop, dice, andportion ingredients.Â
- Assemble and package cold items (salads, dressings, grab-and-go items).Â
- Properly store and label ingredients using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.Â
- Weigh and measure ingredients according to recipes.Â
- Assist with simple cooking tasks (blanching, roasting, grilling under supervision).Â
- Organize and restock prep station throughout shifts.Â
- Prepare breading, batters, and marinades for use in production.Â
- Slice andportion meats, cheeses, and vegetables per production needs.Â
- Maintain cleanliness of all prep equipment, including slicers and food processors.Â
- Follow allergen handling procedures to avoid cross-contact.Â
- Ensureaccurate portioning and plating of pre-prepped items.Â
- Prepare sandwich and salad components for high-volume service.Â
- Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.Â
- Maintain cleanliness in coolers, dry storage, and prep areas.Â
- Assist with inventory tracking and reporting low-stock items.Â
