We are seeking a Senior Contract Manager to join our Procurement & Commercial team, supporting the delivery of a significant portfolio. This role will support the development and execution of strategic procurement and contracting activities across major capital projects, ensuring value is maximised throughout the contract lifecycle while effectively managing commercial risk and supplier performance.
The successful candidate will bring experience in both pre- and post-contract management of high-value agreements, ideally within the Renewable Energy sector or a similar infrastructure environment. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, project teams, suppliers and delivery partners to develop procurement strategies, manage complex contract arrangements and support successful project outcomes.
- Support the development and implementation of procurement and contracting strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project requirements.
- Contribute to end-to-end Contract Lifecycle Management activities, from sourcing and tendering through contract award, administration, change management, claims management and close-out.
- Prepare project contracting strategies, ITTs, tender documentation, contract award recommendations and commercial evaluation criteria.
- Support the sourcing and procurement of complex goods and services, leading elements of competitive tender processes and evaluating supplier proposals.
- Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, monitoring supplier performance, identifying issues and driving accountability to support successful project delivery.
- Assist with contract negotiations, commercial discussions and contract administration activities, ensuring contractual obligations are understood and managed effectively.
- Identify, assess and mitigate procurement and commercial risks in accordance with governance requirements and organisational policies.
- Collaborate with project teams, supply chain partners and key stakeholders to ensure procurement and commercial activities remain aligned with project goals and delivery schedules.
- Draft and manage framework agreements, call-off agreements and contract documentation to ensure organisational requirements are fully captured.
- Support prequalification activities, supplier evaluations and due diligence processes.
- Review contractor and supplier submissions, coordinate responses and ensure contractual obligations are administered within agreed timescales.
- Monitor contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including deliverables, variations, claims and dispute resolution activities.
- Assess and administer contract variations in accordance with contractual provisions.
- Provide commercial and procurement support to project teams, helping to resolve challenges and identify opportunities for value improvement and cost optimisation.
- Support procurement activities across existing frameworks to ensure project requirements are delivered in a timely and compliant manner.
- Carry out data analysis, forecasting, commercial reporting and record management to support effective decision-making and governance.
- Prepare and maintain procurement plans, schedules and contract management documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote proactive governance by reporting commercial risks, contract changes and performance updates to key stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience in procurement, commercial management, contract management or supply chain roles, preferably within the renewable energy, utilities, infrastructure, engineering or construction sectors.
- Knowledge of onshore and offshore renewable energy projects, including development, construction, operations and maintenance contracting models.
- Experience managing contracts through the full project lifecycle, including tendering, contract award, contract administration, change management and claims management.
- Strong understanding of supplier sourcing, tender evaluations, procurement governance and contract negotiation principles.
- Familiarity with standard forms of contract such as NEC, FIDIC, LOGIC or equivalent industry contracts.
- Experience preparing procurement strategies, tender documentation, commercial evaluations and contract award recommendations.
- Understanding of contract compliance, supplier performance management, variations, claims and dispute resolution processes.
- Experience contributing to project budgets, cost forecasting and commercial reporting activities.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-focused environment.
- Understanding of HSE requirements, governance frameworks and procurement best practice within major capital projects.
- Knowledge of market developments, supplier capabilities and emerging opportunities within the energy sector.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- MCIPS membership or progress towards a professional procurement/commercial qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
