Field Training Officer -San Diego

About the Role

The Field Training Officer (FTO) is responsible for training and supporting NEMT drivers to ensure they can safely and professionally transport wheelchair and stretcher patients. The FTO will provide hands-on training, observe driver performance, and make sure drivers follow company safety and transportation procedures.

What You'll Do

• Train new and current NEMT drivers in the field.
• Teach drivers how to safely transport wheelchair and stretcher patients.
• Demonstrate proper use of wheelchair lifts, ramps, stretchers, and safety equipment.
• Train drivers on patient loading, unloading, and securement procedures.
• Train drivers on company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Observe and evaluate driver performance and provide feedback.
• Complete driver training and evaluation forms.
• Train drivers on company transportation software, GPS, and mobile applications.
• Reinforce proper patient care and customer service.
• Report training progress, concerns, and performance issues to management.
• Provide additional or refresher training when needed.
• Help ensure company vehicles are clean and properly maintained.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, patients, facilities, and company leadership.
• Follow all applicable NEMT and company safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid State Driver's License required.
• Clean driving record (no more than 1 point).
• Previous NEMT, wheelchair, or stretcher transportation experience preferred.
• Previous training or leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to pass required drug testing and health screening.
• Ability to pass a physical agility test.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to speak and understand English.
• Ability to travel to different locations for training.
• Comfortable using mobile apps, GPS, and electronic devices.
• Professional and reliable.

Preferred Skills

• Bilingual language ability preferred.
• Previous experience as an NEMT driver or trainer.
• Experience with wheelchair and stretcher transportation.
• Strong coaching and communication skills.

Compensation

Final pay rate is determined based on qualifications, experience, and performance, at the employer's discretion.
