Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager to leadhigh-voltage overhead transmission line projects across the United States.
This role focuses heavily onstructural design leadership and technical oversight, ensuring engineering quality, budget adherence, project schedule performance, and team development.
The selected candidate will serve as theresponsible engineer overseeing the complete design lifecycle of major transmission infrastructure programs while coordinating across engineering, procurement, permitting, real estate, and construction teams.
This is an excellent leadership opportunity within astable, growth-oriented engineering firm supporting major U.S. utility transmission programs.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Leadmulti-disciplinary engineering teams on overhead transmission projects.
- Oversee engineering quality, budget performance, and schedule adherence.
- Serve asEngineer of Record for complex or multi-project assignments.
- Perform and reviewcomplex engineering calculations and technical deliverables.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff.
- Provide subject matter expertise inhigh-voltage transmission line routing and structural loading.
- Guide structural andfoundation design decisions.
- Ensure designs meetindustry standards, codes, and engineering best practices.
- Oversee design deliverables includingloading analysis, structural modeling, and engineering calculations.
- Engage directly withutility clients to understand project requirements and resolve technical concerns.
- Supportproject proposals, cost estimates, and business development efforts.
- Coordinate scope changes with project leadership and stakeholders.
- Represent the engineering team intechnical discussions with clients and partners.
- Review engineering deliverables and ensure design quality.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and technical staff.
- Participate inrecruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
- Promote technical excellence and professional growth within the team.
Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to manage complex infrastructure projects while collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- 7–12+ years of transmission line design experience
- Experience with69kV transmission lines or higher
- PLS-CADD proficiency (Required)
- Bachelor's degree inCivil Engineering or Structural Engineering preferred
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering backgrounds considered
- Experience instructural design for transmission lines
- Experience designingfoundations, structures, and loading analysis
- Knowledge of transmission line materials including:
- Steel
- Wood
- Laminate
- Composite structures
- Experience supportingEPC or design services for U.S. utilities
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Experience withExtra High Voltage (EHV) transmission projects (500kV+)
- Experience withlattice tower design
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams
