Town Engineer-Public Works & Wastewater
Job Purpose:
- The Assistant Town Administrator - Public Works/Engineer at the Town of Thompsons Station is responsible for supporting the Town Administrator in the planning, coordination, and execution of public works projects. This role involves ensuring the efficient and effective management of engineering projects and public infrastructure, contributing to the town’s development and maintenance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of public works projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design, develop, and review project plans and specifications.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Town Administrator and other stakeholders.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to engineering standards and project timelines.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other external partners to facilitate project completion.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, reports, and presentations related to public works projects.
- Address public inquiries and concerns regarding public works and infrastructure projects.
- Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency of town operations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to engineering projects and public works activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Town Administrator to support the town’s operational goals.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works or civil engineering projects.
- Experience in municipal or government projects is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and coordination.
- Experience working with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders in public works projects.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and public works operations.
- Proficiency in using engineering and project management software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and technical documents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards in public works and engineering.
