Position Summary: 

The Sr. Controls Engineer will be developing, programming, and commissioning automation control systems from concept through implementation. This role involves creating virtual commissioning environments using Emulate3D, developing PLC logic programs from scratch, and designing SCADA and HMI applications within Ignition and FactoryTalk Optix Studio platforms. The Controls Engineer will also design, and document detailed electrical control systems, producing electrical schematics and panel assembly drawings using AutoCAD Electrical. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:                                                                                       

  • Working with multiple cross functional engineers to bring a solution from concept to reality.  
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to integrateconveyer control solutions, automated material handling equipment, and autonomous vehicles.   
  • Create andmaintain electrical schematic drawings.   
  • Develop and debugcontrols system software.   
  • Ability to provide technicalexpertise incontrols and electrical engineering.  
  • Perform on-site commissioning support whenrequired.   
  • Perform necessary electrical field wiring.  
  • Perform necessary mechanical installation whenrequired.  
  • Perform design and code reviews.  

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelors or Masters in: Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.  
  • 10+ years of experience in control systems engineering with aBachelors degree or 7+ years with aMasters degree. 

 

Essential Skills Required:  

  • Ability to developPLC programs and HMI programs from scratch.  
  • Proficiency reading schematics and troubleshooting existing control systems including software debugging, and electrical troubleshooting.  
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting VFD’s.   
  • Proficiency
    with: Studio 5000/RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, and AutoCAD. 
  • Ability to Lead and/orassist in project definition, specification,purchasing follow-through to installation 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in software and hardware. 
  • Excellent written and oralcommunications skills,andstrong interpersonalskills. 
  • Job willrequire up to a maximum of 50% travel. 

 

PreferredQualifications: 

  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting servo drives.  
  • SQL Management experience.  
  • Inductive Automation Ignition experience 
  • Understanding of computer networking concepts and architecture 
  • Warehouse operations management experience or experience with warehouse management and/or execution systems.
