POSITION SUMMARYÂ
Tiverton is seeking a proactive and resourceful Assistant Controllerwho can provide the highest quality financial strategy and accounting acumen for Tiverton, while also undertaking various other tasks required at a fast-growing company. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented problem solver with the desire to work in a dynamic environment. Â
This position will be an integral part of the Tiverton team and provide critical support to both the accounting department and the organization. The successful Assistant Controller will be self-motivated and energized by working with a group of thoughtful, smart, and skilled colleagues. They will enjoy being a part of a young and hungry organization focused on becoming the pre-eminent investment firm in US food production.Â
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
- Manage and assist with quarterly and yearly fund financial statements including the annual audit process
- Coordinate with and review the work of third-party fund administrators, including NAV calculations, capital activity, investor allocations, and financial reporting deliverables
- Provide technical accounting related to complex fund structures and investment vehicles
- Lead coordination and review of annual tax filings and compliance in partnership with external tax provider
- Assist with cash management, monitoring credit lines & covenants, and various other cash forecasting
- Support investor requests such as fund performance and special projects as they ariseÂ
- Develop and participate in process improvement projects and internal control implementation
- Support Executive Leadership on ad hoc projects including maintenance/adoption of new portfolio management system, launch of new investment vehicles, and various other items in a growing organization
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSÂ
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, business, or other related majors
- 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, fund/investment accounting, or equivalent work, with a proven history of increasing job responsibility
- CPA strongly preferred
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, partnership accounting, SEC fund compliance, and investment vehicle tax structures
- Advanced proficiency in excel and experience using or implementing new portfolio management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with auditors, tax providers, administrators, and investors
