The Fibre Capacity Analyst is responsible for ensuring sufficient and costāefficient capacity across the fibre transport network (access, aggregation, and core), enabling reliable service delivery and headroom for growth. The role combines data analysis, capacity modelling, and crossāfunctional coordination to anticipate congestion, trigger augmentations, and optimise utilisation on leased and owned fibre assets.
What you will do in the role:
- Lead capacity management across fibre.
- Build and maintain shortā, mediumā and longāterm capacity plans for fibre paths, ducts, subāducts, spares, and lit services.
- Translate demand (RAN rollout, 5G/FTTP takeāup, enterprise orders, IP core uplift, maintenance windows) into capacity requirements at link, node, and route level.
- Model headroom and risk using thresholds and timeātoāexhaust with scenario analysis and seasonality.
- Monitor utilisation trends across access backhaul, aggregation rings, metro and longāhaul, flagging hotspots and service risk.
- Produce weekly congestion dashboards and exception reports; recommend tactical and strategic augments).
- Build repeatable analytics via SQL/Python and BI dashboards (Power BI/Tableau); automate data pipelines and model refresh.
- Raise and track capacity augments (buyouts, xWDM expansion, new waves, duct build, leased line upgrades) through design, commercial approval, and delivery.
- Support on the business cases with ROI/TCO, capex/opex split, options analysis, and risk assessment; present to governance forums (e.g., Change Board).
- Develop and maintain capacity models for fibre infrastructure.Ā
- Forecast future capacity needs based on traffic trends, business growth, and technology evolution.Ā
- Provide capacity input into strategic decision making for investment planning and vendor discussions.
- Drive automation of capacity tracking and monitoring processes.Ā
- Drive the use and development of tooling (e.g., telemetry, inventory, analytics dashboards).Ā
- Collaborate with fibre strategy, fibre planning and fixed fibre enterprise team.Ā Ā
- Support on regulatory requirement for Capacity.
- Govern the integration of Capacity insights into annual budgeting and delivery cycles.Ā
The ideal person for the role.
- Extensive experience in telecom network capacity planning, performance management, and complex problemāsolving using multi-domain dataādriven approaches.
- Proven capability to model capacity scenarios, forecast demand and guide strategic decisionāmaking.
- Strong rootācause analysis skills, with the ability to deliver tactical fixes and longāterm performance improvement plans with strong communication and stakeholder management.
- Deep understanding of transport technologies including Fibre, IP, MPLS, and DWDM, alongside proficiency in Python, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Handsāon experience with network monitoring and inventory platforms, including producing accurate weekly/monthly capacity and performance reports and dashboards.
