Job Description and Responsibilities
This is a full-time, hybrid role as aTeacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)serving a school located in Manistee, MI.Â
TheTeacher of the Blind or Visually impaired (TVI) will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.Â
Job Details
- Full-time school-based opportunity with a37.5-hour weekly schedule
- 2026–2027 academic year (August 2026 through May/June 2027)
- Flexiblehybrid position supporting students inKindergarten through 12th grade
- Manage an assigned caseload of approximately24 students
- Provide educational services, complete evaluations, support eligibility processes, and manage student case responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and support individualized student plans
- Guaranteed paid hours include documentation, planning, meetings, and administrative responsibilities
- Balanced caseload designed to support quality student services and professional success
- Ongoing collaboration and support from both the partnering school district and the TheraPeds Partners team
- $50–$70+ per hour, with estimated weekly earnings ofapproximately $1,875–$2,625+
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support.
- Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress to inform ongoing instruction and planning.
- Create a welcoming, safe, and productive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior and learning.
- Provide guidance and support to classroom staff in implementing educational strategies for students with special needs.
- Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education
- Certification for Teaching Exceptional Children – Visually Impaired, Grades Primary through 12.
- 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
- Experience working with visually Impaired children
- Organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in use of technology
- Fingerprint background clearance
- Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications
Physical Requirements
Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities,while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
