JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Lehigh Valley is seeking applicants for the part-time job of Fiber Artist in Residence.
Artist Responsibilities
- Material list: Provide estimated material list in advance of project.
- Launch Event: Deliver the artist talk, demonstrate techniques, and initiate the weaving process on September 14.
- Consultation: Maintain ongoing communication with Ann regarding technical aspects (Note: Jill is unavailable September 24–27).
- Production: Finalize weaving to fit a 7’ W x 3’ H library space using single or multi-panel configurations (e.g., three 2’ W x 3’ H panels).
- Assembly: Complete all necessary sewing, finishing touches, and structural details.
- Display Setup: Construct and attach the final hanging supports or framing for installation
Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:
- BFA degree/ MFA preferred
- Experience conducting college and community artist in residences
- Overall 60 hours/approx 5 hrs per week of the Fall 2026 semester
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $50/hr.
