Manual QA Engineer Job Description — IC2 (Level 200)

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria
Reports to: QA Team Lead
Role Purpose
Administers and applies establishedmanual testing practices to ensure product quality. Assists with routine test planning and execution activities across UI, API, and performance checks in an operational delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates and applies defined test cases, checklists, and regression suites,
- Processes results from test execution andresponds to observed defects following set procedures,
- Assists in test data preparation and environment readiness,
- Coordinates with developers to reoduce routine issues.
- Collects andcollates test evidence (screenshots, logs, DB records) to support defect reports and release sign‑off packages,
- Performsroutine smoke/sanity/regression tests andoperational checks aligned to agreed plans and policies,
- Responds to changes in scope by updating assigned test cases under guidance,
- Processes defect retests and closure steps.
Decision‑Making & Autonomy
- Works onmoderate‑scope problems,
- Exercises judgment withindefined procedures,
- Some autonomy withsome direction, especially on new tasks
Customer Interaction
Primarily interacts within the QA team andstarts to partner with adjacent teams to exchange factual information (build notes, repro steps, priorities).
Supervision
- Receivessome direction,
- Periodic check‑ins for routine work,
- Detailed instructions on new assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
- ~2–4 years confirmed experience in software testing (or less if holding an advanced degree or equivalent experience),
- Familiarity with test case management and defect tracking tools,
- Basic understanding of UI/API/performance test concepts formanual execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to TestRail/Jira, REST clients, browser dev tools,
- ISTQB Foundation (or similar).
