SUMMARYÂ
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to support the accounting operations of a fast-growing, multi-entity cannabis organization. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, strengthening internal controls, and helping ensure compliance within a highly regulated industry.Â

This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to identify issues and drive solutions independently.Â

Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Â
Month-End Close & Financial ReportingÂ
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesÂ
- Lead assigned portions of the month-end and year-end close processÂ
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances and unusual activityÂ
- Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling itemsÂ
- Assist with preparation of internal financial reporting packages and management analysisÂ
Â
General AccountingÂ
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAPÂ
- Compile weekly AP payment runs and manage vendor relationships. Â
- Support accounting for inventory, cost of goods sold, fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany activityÂ
- Assist with retail sales reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and payment processor activityÂ
- Review coding accuracy and help ensure consistency across departments, locations, and entitiesÂ
- Support sales tax filings, 1099 reporting, and other compliance-related accounting activitiesÂ
- AP invoice entryÂ

Compliance, Controls & Process ImprovementÂ
- Help maintain accurate and audit-ready financial records within a highly regulated environmentÂ
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controlsÂ
- Assist in developing and documenting accounting procedures and SOPsÂ
- Support internal and external audit requests, regulatory reporting, and financial reviewsÂ
- Participate in implementation and optimization of accounting systems and reporting toolsÂ
Â
Cross-Functional CollaborationÂ
- Partner with operations, inventory, procurement, marketing, HR/payroll, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve processesÂ
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and external vendors/partnersÂ
- Provide guidance and mentorship to staff accountants and accounting support personnel as neededÂ

QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredÂ
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experienceÂ
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting fundamentalsÂ
- Experience with multi-entity accounting preferredÂ
- Retail, inventory, manufacturing, distribution, or cannabis industry experience strongly preferredÂ
- Advanced Excel skills requiredÂ
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or ERP systems preferredÂ
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentÂ
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsÂ
