Kaitaataki (Disability Support Team Lead) | Manukau

Te Roopu Taurima is seeking an experienced Kaitaataki to lead our RIDSAS level service atWhare Te Whare Whakatipu. This is an opportunity to lead a team supporting tāngata with intellectual disabilities and complex support needs to build skills, achieve goals, maintain relationships and develop greater independence in the community. 

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, we support tāngata and whānau in ways that uphold mana, strengthen relationships and support wellbeing. 

Location: Whare Te Whare Whakatipu, Manukau, Auckland

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm 

Salary: $77,600 per annum 

Note: Te Roopu Taurima cannot support work visas/visa changes for this role. 

About the Role 

As Kaitaataki, you’ll lead the day-to-day operation of Whare Te Whare Whakatipu, a RISDAS level service focused on helping tāngata develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to work towards living more independently in the community. 

You’ll lead and support the Kaiawhina team to provide consistent, person-centred support, helping tāngata work towards their individual goals and take part in everyday activities that build independence. 

Alongside team leadership, you’ll coordinate the practical running of the whare, including rostering, support plans, documentation, health and safety and quality requirements. You’ll work closely with tāngata, whānau and other professionals to ensure support remains focused on their goals and progress.  

What We’re Looking For 

• At least 3 years’ experience in community health care, disability support, aged care or health care, including experience supporting people with high and complex needs and/or behaviours.  

• Leadership or team management experience, with the ability to coach, support and develop Kaiawhina.  

• Strong communication, relationship-building and teamwork skills, with a respectful, caring and inclusive approach.  

• Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.  

• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage the day-to-day priorities of a residential service.  

• Knowledge of, or a commitment to learning, Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori.  

• A NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent.  

• Full NZ driver licence and a good level of physical fitness and mobility.  

• Ability to meet all pre-employment requirements, including employer references, right to work, police vetting, NZ Driver Licence check, health assessment and drug and alcohol screening.
