WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for a detail-oriented legal professional to help manage Teach For America's contracts process while strengthening the systems, tools, and resources that support legal operations across the organization. In this role, you'll partner with teams across Teach For America to review contracts, improve legal workflows, maintain contract and matter management systems, and use data to drive continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is passionate about building efficient processes, translating legal requirements into practical guidance, and creating resources that empower others to navigate contracts confidently. You'll thrive by balancing contract review, systems management, training, and analytics while collaborating with colleagues across the organization.
The goal is to ensure Teach For America has efficient, compliant, and user-friendly legal operations that enable teams to move work forward with confidence.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Contract Review & Management (40%)
Review, edit, and draft a variety of legal agreements, including vendor, partnership, and independent contractor contracts, in accordance with Teach For America's Contracts Policy.
Manage the IronClad contract lifecycle management platform, including contract workflows, status tracking, and system maintenance.
Oversee the Independent Contractor review process and support ongoing compliance with organizational policies.
Templates, Resources & Training (35%)
Create and maintain contract templates, guidance documents, FAQs, playbooks, and other resources that support consistent contract practices across the organization.
Develop and deliver resources that increase organization-wide understanding of the Contracts Policy and legal processes.
Maintain Legal Affairs content on TFAHub to ensure materials remain current, accessible, and useful.
Track adoption and effectiveness of legal resources and recommend improvements based on user feedback and engagement.
Data Reporting & Systems Management (15%)
Produce monthly and quarterly reports on legal matters, contract volume, and team activity.
Manage the legal matter management system by routing requests, monitoring open matters, maintaining records, and generating reports.
Analyze trends and recommend improvements to legal operations, workflows, and user experience.
Special Projects (10%)
Lead or support cross-functional projects that improve legal operations, contract management, and organizational processes.
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week, the Manager, Contracts and Data Paralegal will spend time:
Reviewing and drafting contracts for vendors, partners, and independent contractors.
Managing contract workflows and supporting users within the IronClad platform.
Responding to legal requests and maintaining accurate records in the matter management system.
Creating and updating templates, FAQs, guidance documents, and contract resources.
Meeting with internal stakeholders to answer questions and support contract processes.
Preparing reports that highlight legal team activity, contract trends, and operational insights.
Identifying opportunities to improve legal workflows, systems, and user experience.
Supporting strategic Legal Affairs initiatives and cross-functional projects.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
Ability to review, draft, and analyze contracts and other legal documents with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Expertise in contract lifecycle management, legal operations, or paralegal work.
Proficiency using contract management or matter management systems (such as IronClad, Freshworks, or similar platforms).
Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and identify trends that improve processes and decision-making.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical guidance.
Experience developing templates, training materials, process documentation, or operational resources.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners and provide exceptional internal client service.
Education (Preferred): Bachelor's degree
BONUS (Preferred Qualifications)
Paralegal certificate or equivalent credential.
Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools.
Experience working within a nonprofit, education, or mission-driven organization.
Experience leading cross-functional process improvement or organizational change initiatives.
Willingness to occasionally support work outside of standard business hours as organizational needs arise.
YOUR FUTURE TEAM
The Legal Affairs & Risk team partners with colleagues across Teach For America to provide practical legal guidance that supports the organization's mission while managing legal risk. The team advises on contracts, employment matters, compliance, education law, intellectual property, and a wide range of operational legal questions. As the Manager, Contracts and Data Paralegal, you'll work closely with attorneys and cross-functional partners to strengthen legal operations, improve contract processes, and build systems that make legal support more efficient, accessible, and scalable across the organization.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands.New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Tier A: $55,700 - $73,100
Tier B: $60,800 - $79,700
Tier C: $65,700 - $86,300
